GROOVESPEAK at Soulcraft Brewery 7-10 pm FREE

Longtime local favorites, this high-energy band out of Leadville gives an original soundtrack to exactly what it’s like to live in the high Colorado mountains. Their melodic vocals ring true and are punctuated with saxophone jams, and gritty good-vibes riffs. Originals are mixed in with some covers of Van Morrison, Traffic and David Bowie. You’ll speak ‘groove’ too once you hear them live in Salida.

ANDY SYDOW and NIC CLARK at the Boathouse Cantina 5:30 pm

Andy and Nic are ready to get this weekend started at FAC (Friday Afternoon Club). At only 26, Andy is a local Colorado musician (and CU grad) quickly becoming a favorite at various venues and festivals. He’s rocked the Boathouse before, as well as the Lariat in BV. He has four critically acclaimed albums and has a kind of Jackson Browne meets Jason Isbell style. He is a talented guitarist and has some serious ‘boogie woogie’ piano skills. Tours US and Canada. The collaboration with Nic Clark ramps up the fun.

LIZZY PLOTKIN and NATALIE SPEARS at the SteamPlant Theater 7-10 pm, $10

This duo revels in both the raw rhythms of bluegrass instrumentals and songwriting inspired by their love and connection to the nature. This collaboration of like-minded souls makes the harmonies soar. Lizzy plays fiddle, guitar and mandolin while Natalie adds upright bass and plays the banjo in claw-hammer style. The mix is an acoustic old-time Appalachian groove with a fluid Colorado influence. They play originals as well as putting their own respectful spin on bluegrass standards.

PAUL DEHAVEN at Wood’s High Mountain Distillery 7 pm Free

Paul is a solo act whose songwriting explores modern problems – the longing to connect, the search for purpose. The unique songs fly with his skills as a guitarist. He sings it like he feels it and plays it like he means it. He has a recent debut LP, “King of Gold,” but has been around the Denver area for around a decade. Might also be recognizable as a founding member of folk group, ‘Paperbird.’

CYCLES W/GOOSE at the Lariat 9 pm $5

In the midst of an exhaustive national touring schedule, this power trio rips into BV to captivate audiences. Their original sound is a fusion of genres described as having “ripping guitar, fat bass grooves played out through furious slapping and dynamic drum beats.” Got that? Band members Patrick Harvey (guitar), Michael Wood (drum), Tucker McClung (bass) take you through “screaming peaks and balanced grooves,” in a “multicolored blend of sound.” Wow.

Ready for “Cosmic Americana”? Yes! Even better, how about Grant Farm playing Tom Petty’s ‘Damn the Torpedoes,’ (40th Anniversary) as well as originals? Yes! This fest-fav Boulder-based band was founded a decade ago by Tyler Grant, a vocalist and National Flatpicking Guitar Champion. BLUE RECLUSE at the Boathouse Cantina 5:30 pm

A blues lover’s dream, Blue Recluse rolls into town again bringing their own brand of all things blues – rhythm and blues, country blues, dancing-shoes blues. The FAC (Friday Afternoon Club) at Boathouse Cantina heralds in the weekend in a loud, lively style and Blue Recluse is the group for the job. Lead singer Shawntel Royale and the rhythm sections, electric blues guitar and keys keep things groovin’. They play Colorado clubs and festivals and right here on the riverside.

INTRINSIC DANCE at Wood’s High Mountain Distillery at 7 pm Free

The acoustic duo of Bonnie Culpepper (vocals, ukulele) and Brian Intrary (vocals, guitar) brings a mountain-influenced, contemporary American folk, country, rock and a loose ‘jammin’ reggae beat at times to their performances. They play fests and breweries and cool venues from Crested Butte to New York. Oh, and at least one distillery too.

BROKE DOWN RODEO at Soulcraft Brewery 7-10 Free

Born of the mountains, this band is an “American reflection of blues, country, folk, and rockabilly.” Originally they started as the Copper Mountain Ski holiday party band. Best reason to start a band ever. Currently band members Anna Welcher and Larry Lacette (lead vocals and song writers), Jonathan Burk (multi-instrumentalist), Nick Slaton (percussion) and Bill Ryan (stand-up bass) play a mix of genres encompassing originals and a few covers. Best heard with a local craft beer in your hand.

KELLER WILLIAMS with special guest WALLY INGRAM at 8 pm at the IVY BALLROOM 8 pm $38 in advance, $43 at the door (plus tax).

It’s going to be a raucous “Kellerbration,” BV. Two big-time artists roll in between crazy-busy tour schedules to the Ivy (describe). Just in January, Keller played in Jamaica, North Carolina and Nashville. He tours everywhere but we’re betting he will like it here best. Keller has been doing this since 1995, performing acoustic dance music, a.k.a. “jazzfunkraggaeelectronicagrass” with humor and passion. He is joined by Ingram, a drummer whose bio reads like a small book. He has toured and collaborated with legendary artists such as Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor and so many other names to drop. Be there.

SMITH AND FRIENDS at Wesley & Rose at the Surf Hotel 6-9 pm

Bruce Hayes is the featured musician at Live Music Mondays, the on-going concert series lighting up this delicious venue. A local favorite since 2003, Hayes is a sought-after favorite all over town and the state. When he plays solo on acoustic guitar he performs what he calls “Celtgrass,” a combo of American bluegrass and its Celtic roots. The singer songwriter also does justice to classic rock.  This concert series is a partnership between Coletrain Music Academy and the Surf Hotel with host Coleman Smith.

THE LONG RUN: A TRIBUTE TO THE EAGLES at the Lariat at 8:30 pm $10

Oh, what a night! This one will “Take it to the Limit,” Desperados. Colorado’s tribute to the Eagles is performed by four longtime Colorado musicians Mark Trippensee (Vocals, Drums, Percussion); Steven Weinmeister (Vocals, Guitars, Mandolin, Piano,); Adam Rey (Vocals, Guitars) and Reece Morse (Vocals, Keyboards, Acoustic Guitar.) and Bill Hopkins (Vocals, Bass, Guitars). Their impressive musical bios are much too long to list but what really matters is that harmonious sound they’ve been delivering for 10 years now. When The Eagles played Coors Field in Denver last year tickets cost well over a Benjamin. This one, the next best thing, costs you just a Hamilton Just saying.

MARK BUSH at Wood’s High Mountain Distillery at 7 pm Free

Best known for being part of the indie rock band, Mark’s Midnight Carnival Show, Mark Bush will do a solo show this time. He’s the vocalist and guitarist for the group so his acoustic sound stands alone quite well, too. All the songs are originals and span multi-genres. For a rough comparison, think Wilco or the Black Keys. As a band they’ve released two studio albums and tour regional – most often in breweries and distilleries. Our kind of music man.
