January 1, 1970 @ 12:00 am - May 7, 2023 @ 12:00 am

$10 suggested donation Join us at the Stardust on Sunday, May 7 for an evening of food, music, and poetry! Tucson-based experimental folk trio Pineross will bring an unconventional mix of electronics, marimba, and bass clarinet to Buena Vista. Led by songwriter/producer Kevin Larkin (Chimney Choir), the group is touring behind their new album, ‘Dragoon’. Maco Terr is no stranger to Buena Vista. As bassist for Paper Bird and The River Arkansas, the songwriter has reinvented himself with ‘Lunatic’, an new album recorded during the pandemic. Jovan Mays is a slam poet champion, educator, and performer with Boulder based trip-hop jam band Von Disco. His poems have been featured on TEDx and Colorado Public Radio and he is the author of 3 books: Pride, The Great Box Escape, and This Is Your Song. About Pineross Pineross is a Tucson-based electronic-folk trio lead by songwriter/producer Kevin Larkin and featuring Jake Ransom on percussion/ mallets and Daniel Becker on bass clarinet. Pineross’ latest release, Dragoon, was inspired by the harsh and beautiful landscape of the Sonoran desert. The music takes listeners on a journey into the borderlands where history and mythology blend into our current polarized reality, ultimately searching the horizon for a moment of peace. Larkin has released three albums and an EP under the Pineross moniker and composes ambient/sound collage music under the name Aamateur Aastronomy. He spent the last decade creating theatrical productions with art-folk collective Chimney Choir, performing while suspended from trees during the Breckenridge International Festival of Art, and designing an interactive sound installation as Artist in Residence at Great Sand Dunes National Park. Kevin has collaborated with filmmakers, puppeteers, dancers, environmentalists, songwriters, and poets. His work often explores the intersection of the organic and digital aspects of sound, incorporating manipulated field recordings and processed acoustic sources. www.pineross.com https://www.instagram.com/_pineross_/ https://pineross.bandcamp.com/album/dragoon About Maco Terr Maco Terr is an old nickname and a new musical project of Colorado based, multi-instrumentalist Macon Terry. Maco Terr’s debut release, Lunatic, was recorded throughout the isolation years at home on an old tape machine, and the album lives online in the form of 8 singles. The songs on ‘Lunatic’ are a mix of old & new ideas and they represent an effort to clean up shop. Music has always been Macon’s primal form of therapy, and song writing is his most cathartic release. Whether the music is in reflection of forgiveness, joy, trauma, dreams, regret, or love, Maco Terr songs can allow for the energy to move. If one was so inclined, one could listen to Maco Terr at macoterr.bandcamp.com, or perhaps catch him in person on the off chance that he is playing songs in a windy corner somewhere in the southwest. About Jovan Mays Jovan Mays is the inaugural and emeritus Poet Laureate of Aurora, Colorado, a National Poetry Slam Champion, TED speaker and the Youth Voice Coordinator of Aurora Public Schools. Mays has worked with well over one million students through poetry outreach in his program, Your Writing Counts. He is the author of 3 books: Pride, The Great Box Escape, and This Is Your Song.
