Chaffee County 2018 Wedding and Reception Venues

Wedding venues in Chaffee County are anything but typical. Nature conspires to add spectacular beauty and charm to every venue in Salida and Buena Vista. The tallest mountains, the wildest river, the bluest skies – that’s our signature Central Colorado style. This is the kind of place where the happy couple may arrive for the ceremony on whitewater kayaks. It’s the perfect location to say “I do!” high on a mountain summit. It’s where a party tent transforms a natural field into a wildly dramatic setting — with majestic 14,000 foot mountains as the backdrop. Not that we don’t do traditional here, too. We do. The point is, it’s your day. And this is your dream destination to make it unforgettable.

Oh, and the honeymoon? No need to go anywhere else. We have a myriad of unique lodging accommodations and a long list of exciting and exhilarating activities and adventures to enjoy.

SteamPlant Theater and Event Center

This historic 1800s brick building is both a stylishly urban and mountain-chic wedding venue. It is close to downtown Salida but also sits right alongside the Arkansas River. In-house Event Planners network with local vendors allowing for convenient and stress-free events. Ceremonies and receptions can be held on the stunning outdoor riverside patio with awe-inspiring mountain views or in the elegant ballroom with ample space for up to 285 guests. The ballroom has a large dance floor, commercial kitchen, mezzanine and dressing rooms, too. Catered rehearsal dinners can be held in the riverside meeting room. Get ideas, information and inspiration at two bridal shows held here annually in January and April. http://steamplantwedding.com/

Hutchinson Ranch Events

Celebrate the beginning of your history as a couple in a venue that has been home to a local ranching family for six generations. The original Hutchinson settlers arrived on this land in 1868 and it is still a working cattle ranch today. The ranch buildings are on the National and State Historic Register. The property now has a family-run living heritage museum and learning center as well as a unique outdoor wedding venue. Under a rustic wooden arch, vows and rings are exchanged in front of up to 180 guests. The pastoral setting is surrounded by the ranch, mountain views and a lovely stream. Receptions in the new large barn can be dressed up or kept country chic. Located between Salida and Poncha Springs. http://www.hutchinsonhomestead.org/

Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort

This scenic venue truly has everything in one place. Located between Buena Vista and Salida, Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort exists because of the all-natural, odorless geothermic hot springs. Relaxing in these hot springs pools and river “hot pots” is year-round bliss. But it is also a stunning wedding and reception venue. The outdoor wedding venues feature magnificent mountain and creek backdrops. Fully-catered on-site, receptions can be held in the large indoor-outdoor Pavilion or the slightly smaller Conference Center. Wedding guests can turn this into a memorable vacation by staying in the resort’s hotel, lodge or cabins and taking advantage of spa amenities, restaurants and nearby recreation options too. https://mtprinceton.com/colorado/outdoor-weddings/

Everett Ranch

The historic Everett Ranch is a fifth generation working cattle ranch surrounded by the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains. Ceremonies can be held in several different areas of this beautiful property. Say your vows under an Aspen branch altar next to a serene pond. Or have a rustic, western-themed wedding on a ridge overlooking the river. Another option is getting married right on the riverside and making a dramatic post-ceremony exit in a raft on the Arkansas River. Everett Ranch is located five miles from Salida. https://everettranchweddings.com/

Soulcraft Brewery

The Colorado craft beer scene has its own energy – one that makes you feel at-home and carefree. That’s how your wedding and reception will feel too in this vibrant venue in Salida. With its large, inviting taproom, Soulcraft Brewery provides a laid-back but charming site for ceremonies and celebrations with your craft-beer loving friends and family. Inside, it has space for a live band as well as a dance floor and seating. Outside, there’s a patio for fresh-air fun. Their beers will please the crowd and the resident food truck can provide the eats – or have it locally catered. https://soulcraftbeer.com/

BV Heritage Museums

Make it official at the 1882 Historic Chaffee County Courthouse. A blend of historic charm and contemporary elegance, this indoor wedding venue is housed inside a building known as the centerpiece of downtown Buena Vista. It was used as a courthouse from 1882 to 1932, then became a school from 1936 to 1972. Now it is a charming venue for weddings, receptions, and other gatherings for up to 130 people. The Courtroom Gallery is now the ballroom, shining with five chandeliers hanging from its classic high ceilings. It also has its original wood floors, large windows, and a grand staircase. http://www.buenavistaheritage.org/Weddings-and-Reunions

Turner Farm and Apple Orchard

Peaceful and rural, this nostalgic wedding venue is apple-sweet. The two-story farm house dates back to the 1890’s and the property still has the original homestead cabin, a mother-in-law cabin, a barn/tack room, garage/workshop and an apple orchard. Weddings are held seasonally from May 15 to October 15 on “grandma’s porch” or among the apple trees. Quaint and quiet, the property spreads across two acres but is still close to downtown Buena Vista. The venue is also part of the Buena Vista Heritage organization dedicated to preserving this farm as a living museum and tribute to local early 1900s rural life. http://www.buenavistaheritage.org/Weddings-and-Reunions

Princeton. The exterior is everything you dream a Colorado log cabin could be, while the interior has every gorgeous finishing and amenity. Boasting the largest patio in Buena Vista, this restaurant’s outdoor venue is available for your wedding and reception from Memorial Day through September. The large courtyard faces west, capturing the evening sun and framing astonishing views of nearby Mt. Princeton. Located on Main Street in downtown Buena Vista, it’s a playful space with a stage for live music and patio games like Bocce, horseshoes, disc golf, and giant jenga. But it also gets serious with its healthy food possibilities – full or limited menu or buffet style meals to fit your needs. http://www.houserockkitchen.com/

Churches

Church weddings never go out of style. Between Salida and Buena Vista, there are more than two dozen churches representing nearly every denomination.

Hotels and Lodges

Many area hotels and inns can accommodate your enchanting wedding and reception. Consider the Monarch Mountain Lodge, on Monarch Pass north of Salida for a venue right in the mountains. Or perhaps a delightful Bed and Breakfast Inn such as The Mountain Goat Lodge. This lodge has amazing mountain views and the chance to hang out with goats and take a cheese-making class. In Buena Vista, check out the Creekside Chalets and Cabins, Best Western Vista Inn, Big Horn Lodge and Surf Chateau.

Natural Venues

Why try to improve on Mother Nature? We think she’s got it down pretty perfectly, especially here. Close to 80 percent of Chaffee County is open, public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This equates to countless acres amidst 14,000 foot mountains or the Arkansas River where a gathering could happen. Local rental companies add ambiance by bringing in a tent, fire tables, rustic wooden furniture, maybe even a portable dance floor. Or how about getting really creative by having a ‘moving’ ceremony while on horseback, a mountain bike, a snowmobile or skis? If you can imagine it, this is the place to make it happen. Naturally.

Heart of the Rockies Wedding Association

This comprehensive local resource of local wedding venues and vendors was formed just to make it easy on you when making plans for a destination wedding here. This collaborative group carefully selects its members for their professional quality services and reliability. It serves all your dream ceremonies and celebrations in Salida, Buena Vista, Poncha Springs, Nathrop and Monarch. https://heartoftherockieswedding.com/
