Chaffee County Community Foundation
The newly-formed Chaffee County Community Foundation (CCCF) focuses on a wide spectrum of issues vital to keeping this area vibrant and thriving. As a 501-c-3 charitable organization they are a powerful change-agent and philanthropic focal point to support existing local nonprofit organizations as well as connecting donors to community needs. This nonprofit is tasked with developing solutions to local challenges like keeping the forests healthy while balancing outdoor recreation opportunities and the local economy.
Chaffee County Mentors
There is nothing like a positive role model to make a real difference in a child’s life. With this vision, the Chaffee County Mentor’s Program pairs mentors with referred youth ages 7 to 18 in a special one-on-one relationship as well as monthly group activities. Currently about 47 local youth have been matched to adult volunteer mentors. These advocates support these kids in a wide variety of ways from academic to social to emotional. The powerful program is modeled after Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Participating kids can be referred by teachers and counselors, social workers – even parents. Because this program is officially under the umbrella of FYI. (Family Youth Initiatives), they benefit from the overall annual ‘For Kid’s Sake’ fundraiser every June.
Outdoor adventures are much more than just fun and games. The non-profit ElevateHer empowers females in grades 6-12 by teaching them new skills through both outdoor adventure and inner self-esteem work. It’s a confidence-building, stress-busting holistic approach that nurtures mind, body and soul through leadership, relationships, and physical activities. Success in outdoor activities overflows into confidence to face life’s challenges Young women are given the opportunity to go rafting, stand up paddle boarding, rock climbing, hiking, backpacking, and mountain biking, skiing, and snowshoeing. Yoga, meditation, and Wellness Workshops round out the programming. Each activity is led by local women. Community fundraisers are held throughout the year at local businesses and donations are always needed and welcome. Join in the fun by checking for the next event.
